I am a licensed clinical therapist with specialized training in providing individual, couples, and group psychotherapy. In 2002, I completed my graduate studies at the nationally leading School of Social Work at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. I'm licensed through the state of Georgia as a Clinical Social Worker, and I have over 16 years experience including inpatient mental health, outpatient psychiatry, and correctional mental health services.
Individual therapy
I work with adults over the age of 18 presenting with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, unresolved grief/loss, and addictions.
Couples therapy
I work with couples struggling with communication problems, power struggles, intimacy concerns, and infidelity.
If needed, I can help partners separate in a manner that feels fair to both parties and minimizes the risk of unfinished business.
I also offer premarital counseling services in order to become more mindful of the issues that we bring to coupling, which improves the overall quality of the relationship.
Group therapy
I am certified by the APLB as a Pet Loss Counselor and facilitate a Pet Loss Support Group in the Atlanta area. I specialize in this particular type of bereavement and am passionate about this work and the promise it holds to those suffering.Public Service
I provide community speaking services to diverse audiences from national conferences to local church groups. In 2010 and 2009, I presented at the nationally renowned Southern Comfort Conference on the subject of Empowerment for the Transgender population, which focused on high risk factors and the need for counseling support for this marginalized group.
By history, I've also delivered presentations on the Five Love Languages, by Gary Chapman, to local Christian congregations. I'm currently exploring additional topics to present to various communities. I welcome your ideas and suggestions.
Additionally, I volunteer with a suicide prevention group that promotes research, education and advocacy and supports survivors with their grief process. I find community service to be a rewarding act of giving back.LGBTQQI Affirmative Therapy
